for a cocktail party. “Go for tight on
the top, and the skirt knee length.”
And if you are heading from your
desk straight to the office party, her
advice is to wear a statement blouse
that can be revealed by removing
your suit jacket, or add a glittery belt
to a pant and blouse combination.
And, change your shoes from practi-
cal to high heels! Kathy says you
won’t go wrong in a cozy, cashmere
sweater in silver grey, soft blue, or
even navy, paired with leggings or
narrow bottoms for a more casual
holiday function.
Joelles is “dressing up cozy” this
holiday season, but that doesn’t mean
flannel PJ’s. Owner, Joelle Cooling
recommends, “juxtaposing a silky
camisole or lace piece with a knit
sweater or cardigan.” A holiday
brunch calls for “a knit dress with
lots of jewelry or a shorter skirt with
tights and a chunky sweater.” Some
favourite colours showing up at Jo-
elles include winter white, icy pastels
and camel. Cooling says this is the
season to have fun with these softer
tones, “think winter wonderland!”
And don’t forget plaid! “A plaid shirt
(red screams holiday), with skinny
jeans, a pullover sweater and a
pair of ankle boots is perfect for a
family function.”
